List of Departments under Kerala Administrative Service - KAS

The following are the list of 30 departments under Kerala Administrative Service - KAS. This list is important in the sense that appointment of KAS officers by promotion and by transfer (apart from direct recruitment by Kerala PSC KAS examination) is only from the 1st Gazetted posts from the following departments under the Government of Kerala.

The following are the list of departments under Kerala  Administrative Service mentioned in the Kerala Civil Service Executive Special Rules published under notification Government orders. - G.O.(P) No. 12-2017-P&ARD.
  1. Common Categories (Administrative Officer, Administrative Assistant, Account Officer, Financial Assistant and posts earmarked for transfer appointment through KPSC in the cadre of Financial Assistant and listed in Schedule II of these rules)

The candidates who clear the KAS Junior Time Scale examination conducted by Kerala Public Service Commission will be inducted to any of the departments mentioned above. The candidates may have a provision in the detailed application form (DAF) to choose the department they wish to work on.

    Hi,

    As per the latest information, Government of Kerala would reserve the right to include or drop any additional departments in the schedule from time to time according to the requirements and cadre strength. The 30 departments for KAS as mentioned in the KAS Tutor blog are not a conclusive list and it was based on the KAS draft report only. There could be updates once the final KAS rules are published.

    Hi,

    At present, central govt and PSU employees are not eligible to apply in second stream. They can only apply for direct recruitment in stream 1.

    Hi,

    It is having less chance to get included in the list of departments for this time. According to the news reports, further recommendations regarding age, selection, promotions and departments will not be amended. However, Government reserves the right to include or delete departments from this list according to the cadre strength. So it may get included in future.

      Hi,

      If you belongs to general category, you are eligible to apply for the exam, provided Kerala PSC will publish the KAS notification on or before the end of year 2018. Age as of 1st of January of the notification year is the deciding age criteria. Age relaxation will be there for other categories.

    Hi,
    Based on the latest draft rules, a 34 year old Kerala Govt. employee is eligible to apply for KAS Junior Time Scale - Stream 2, provided the candidate has satisfactorily completed the probation period in the serving department. Check this page for more details. KAS Qualification

      Hi,

      List of departments as mentioned already in the article are only notified in the latest draft report. Final draft rules are yet to be published. According to latest news reports, inclusion/exclusion of further department will be of less chance for the upcoming KAS exam. However, Govt. of Kerala reserves the rights to include or exclude departments in the coming years.

      Please check the qualification required for stream 2 category of KAS Junior Time Scale Officers under age limit 40 years. If all the requirements matches, then you are eligible.

      Hi,

      Other state gov officers may not be eligible. And there are less chance for central government officials too in category 2 and 3. However if age permits, they can apply for Junior Time Scale (open recruitment through PSC exam).
